Affiliate Account Manager – Gaming, Betting, & Gambling job – Highly competitive salary – Johannesburg, South Africa

Our client, a leading name in the iGaming and sports betting industry, is looking for an ambitious Affiliate Account Manager to join their Affiliate Marketing team. This is not a “send a few links and hope for the best” role. You will be working at the sharp end of performance marketing, managing affiliates, tipsters, influencers, content partners, and acquisition channels in one of the most competitive industries in the world.

What you’ll be doing

As the Affiliate Account Manager, you will be responsible for building, managing, and growing a strong portfolio of affiliate partners across sports betting and gaming.

You will develop relationships with affiliates, tipsters, influencers, content creators, and performance partners, ensuring they are fully aligned with campaign objectives, brand messaging, promotional activity, and commercial targets.

You will work closely with internal teams across Affiliate Marketing, Creative, CRM, Social Media, Data, Analytics, and the wider Marketing team to plan, launch, track, and optimise campaigns that drive customer acquisition, engagement, and revenue.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building, managing, and nurturing strong relationships with affiliate partners, tipsters, influencers, and content creators.
  • Driving player acquisition and revenue growth through affiliate partnerships, campaign activations, and promotional opportunities.
  • Planning, launching, and optimising affiliate campaigns aligned with major sporting events, casino promotions, seasonal peaks, and the broader marketing calendar.
  • Briefing affiliates on campaign objectives, creative assets, messaging, tracking links, promotional codes, offer mechanics, and brand requirements.
  • Monitoring affiliate performance daily, identifying trends, risks, gaps, and opportunities for optimisation.
  • Analysing traffic quality, conversion rates, CPA, ROI, player value, retention behaviour, and campaign effectiveness across affiliate placements.
  • Onboarding new affiliates and providing them with the tools, guidance, campaign information, and best practices needed to perform.
  • Identifying new affiliate models, emerging traffic sources, influencer partnerships, tipster opportunities, and scalable acquisition channels.
  • Supporting influencer-led acquisition activity and ensuring strong alignment between affiliate and influencer campaigns.
  • Collaborating with Creative, CRM, Social, Data, and Marketing teams to improve campaign quality, conversion performance, tracking, and partner engagement.
  • Preparing regular performance reports with clear insights, commercial commentary, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Participating in weekly performance reviews, growth planning sessions, campaign reviews, and affiliate strategy discussions.
  • Improving tracking, attribution, reporting accuracy, and visibility across affiliate activity.
  • Keeping a close eye on competitor activity, betting trends, sporting calendars, market movements, partner behaviour, and new acquisition opportunities.
  • Driving innovation through both new and existing affiliate channels.

What we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will have experience in affiliate marketing, account management, sales, business development, relationship management, partner management, or performance marketing, ideally within the iGaming, sports betting, online casino, digital marketing, affiliate, media, or high-growth online environment.

You should be confident working with partners, managing commercial relationships, analysing performance data, and making recommendations that improve results.

You will need to be both strategic and hands-on. This role needs someone who can understand the bigger commercial picture, but still cares about the detail: tracking links, promo codes, reporting accuracy, campaign timing, creative execution, and whether the numbers actually make sense.

You should enjoy sport, understand betting culture, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, performance-led environment where things move quickly and excuses age badly.

Key skills and experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or 2 to 3 years’ experience in sales management, relationship management, business development, affiliate marketing, account management, or performance marketing.
  • Solid understanding of online performance metrics, including CPA, ROI, conversion rates, traffic quality, attribution, player value, and customer acquisition costs.
  • Client-facing experience in sales, account management, partner management, affiliate marketing, or commercial relationship management.
  • Strong understanding of affiliate marketing fundamentals, including CPA models, conversion funnels, tracking, attribution, campaign optimisation, and player lifetime value.
  • Experience managing and scaling affiliate portfolios across multiple traffic sources would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong commercial mindset with a clear focus on revenue growth, ROI, partner performance, and measurable results.
  • Ability to identify emerging affiliate opportunities, test new partnerships, and scale successful initiatives.
  • Good understanding of the sports betting and gaming landscape, especially around major sporting events, seasonal betting peaks, customer behaviour, and promotional cycles.
  • Ability to design and implement market-entry or growth strategies where required.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple partners, campaigns, reports, deadlines, and internal stakeholders at the same time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain campaign requirements, performance insights, and commercial recommendations clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly around tracking, reporting, campaign execution, partner briefs, and performance analysis.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across departments, including Creative, CRM, Social, Data, Analytics, Marketing, and Commercial teams.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to spot opportunities, solve problems, and move quickly.
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and operational level while managing complexity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, resilience, adaptability, and a team-first approach.

Desirable experience

  • Previous experience in the online betting, sports betting, casino, gaming, or iGaming industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of sports betting markets, betting types, odds, market trends, and customer betting behaviour.
  • Experience working with affiliates, tipsters, influencers, content creators, media partners, or performance publishers in the betting or gaming space.
  • Knowledge of affiliate networks, tracking platforms, reporting tools, and campaign optimisation systems.
  • Understanding of gambling regulations, responsible gaming requirements, advertising standards, and affiliate compliance.
  • Experience developing acquisition and retention strategies through affiliate channels, including promotional mechanics, lifecycle incentives, and reactivation campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of how affiliate activity fits into the wider marketing mix, including paid media, CRM, social media, influencer marketing, and brand campaigns.
  • Interest in attending industry events, networking opportunities, and international conferences where relevant.
