Finding joy at work!

Have you ever considered how to create more joy at work? Employees who feel happy and content at their job are more likely to enjoy the work they do. Every employee in a business has the opportunity to craft a happy workplace for themselves and their colleagues. You can take many approaches to create a happy workplace. Consider these ideas to increase your individual and team-based happiness while working.

Self-reward

We don’t always have to wait for rewards from the team leaders. If you know that you have done your part and given it your best, go ahead and give yourself some incentive. Small rewards given to the self can increase work engagement that is directly connected to persistence, energy, enthusiasm, and pride.

Be your best self

Joy at work comes from within. People feel joy when their “best self” shows up effortlessly, without thinking about it; being in the flow of the creative process; when they feel they’re making a difference; feeling successful.

Work it out

A 15-minute daily workout routine makes the body energetic and releases the toxins that cause the weariness. Any form of exercise – walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, or anything else, is bound to bring more productivity at work, more energy to give it the best shot, and more fulfilment throughout the day.

Dress up your space

Make your work area a comfortable and motivating space. Decorate it with pictures of your family and friends. Keep a cosy blanket on your chair and warm slippers under your desk. Add other personal elements, like a small coffee pot and cups, for example, that will increase your happiness and keep you productive.

Take charge of your own professional and personal development

Take charge of your own growth by investing in your personal and professional development. Develop a plan and goals for your career, then pursue them. Ask for specific and meaningful help from your boss. Look for assignments that will help you achieve career milestones or learn specific skills. When you feel in control of your career and can see yourself improving and growing, you are more likely to feel satisfied in your current position.

Avoid negativity

Participating in a toxic work environment will increase your unhappiness, no matter how much you enjoy your job. Choosing to be happy at work means avoiding negative conversations, gossip, and unhealthy work relationships as much as possible.

It doesn’t take much to enhance happiness. Little things can go a very long way. The workplace can be stressful and pressured. There are impossible deadlines, demanding clients, unexpected crises and overall disasters. Take steps to break through the pressure. Take just a bit of time and a bit of energy, and invest in creating joy at work.
