The Opportunity
Are you a newly qualified Chartered Accountant(SA) looking to move beyond traditional accounting and build your commercial experience within the fast-paced iGaming and sports betting industry?
Our client is looking for a Junior Finance Manager to join their team and take ownership of key financial management, reporting, controls and compliance activities.
This is a hands-on opportunity suited to a newly qualified CA(SA) or finance professional with up to two years’ post-qualification experience who is ready to apply their technical accounting expertise in a commercial environment.
You’ll work closely with senior leadership and multiple business functions, gaining exposure to everything from P&L and cash flow management to gaming-related reconciliations, taxation, regulatory reporting and commercial decision-making.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
- Support the preparation and analysis of management accounts.
- Oversee key financial reconciliations, including banking, suppliers, payments and customer/gaming wallets.
- Monitor cash flow and contribute to short- and medium-term forecasting.
- Support annual budgeting and ongoing budget vs actual analysis.
- Investigate financial variances and provide meaningful insights to senior management.
- Partner with the CEO, Director and departmental leaders on financial and commercial decisions.
- Assess the financial impact of promotions, operational initiatives and supplier arrangements.
- Maintain and strengthen financial controls, processes and segregation of duties.
- Oversee supplier payments and ensure appropriate authorisation and cash-flow alignment.
- Support VAT, PAYE, income tax, gambling taxes and applicable levies.
- Assist with Gaming Board and other regulatory financial submissions.
- Coordinate annual external audit requirements and work with auditors, tax advisors, banks and other financial partners.
- Support payroll reviews and finance-related reconciliations.
- Help develop and improve finance policies, procedures and controls.
- Work closely with Operations, Risk & Compliance, Marketing and HR to support sound financial management across the business.
- Identify discrepancies, unusual transactions, control weaknesses and financial risks, escalating where necessary.
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualified CA(SA) with SAICA registration or eligibility for registration.
- Completed SAICA articles/training contract.
- Newly qualified CA(SA) or up to 2 years’ post-qualification experience.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS.
- Good understanding of financial statements and management accounts.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation and balance-sheet review skills.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management.
- Working knowledge of South African taxation, including VAT, PAYE and income tax.
- Strong Excel and MS Office skills.
- Experience with accounting/ERP systems.
- Ability to work accurately with large volumes of financial data.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.
- Previous commercial, iGaming or gambling experience is advantageous, but not essential.
Industry Knowledge:
You’ll ideally have an interest in developing your understanding of the financial mechanics behind iGaming, including:
- Gaming-related financial flows and customer wallet reconciliations.
- Gambling taxes and levies.
- Gaming Board reporting and regulatory requirements.
- AML/KYC-related financial controls.
- Foreign supplier and software-provider payments.
- The relationship between player activity, revenue, costs, profitability and cash flow.
