3 Questions you need to prepare for in any job interview

No matter how many you go on, job interviews can always be nerve wrecking. While we don’t recommend having a canned response for every interview question, we do recommend spending some time getting comfortable with what you might be asked, and what hiring managers are really looking for in your responses. Here are 3 commonly asked interview questions and answers.

Tell me about yourself

This question seems simple, so many people fail to prepare for it, but it’s crucial. You can almost guarantee you will be asked this question first in an interview. The hiring manager wants to break the ice and understand why you’re really there. Give a pitch – one that’s concise and compelling and that shows exactly why you’re the right person for the job. Start off with some specific accomplishments or experiences that you most want the hiring manager to know about, then wrap it up by talking about how that prior experience has positioned you for the specific job. Make sure you summarize your background in order to point out the most relevant skills, expertise and accomplishments that make you the best hire

Why do you want to work for this company

When a hiring manager asks this question, not only do that want to know why you want to work for them, but they also want to know what you know about the company. How you choose to answer this question will demonstrate how much or how little you know about the company. Therefore the more research you do prior to the interview the better your answer will be! Make sure you know the company well and can speak truthfully about your desires to work there. Familiarise yourself with the company online through their website, social media channels or news articles to understand their values and beliefs. You can then ensure your answer to this interview question matches their core values to really demonstrate how well you will fit into their company culture.

Do you have any questions

The last question you will always be asked during an interview is whether or not you have any questions for the hiring manager. For some, this may be the dreaded last question, where their mind goes blank and they simply answer no! But this can be avoided by preparing a few questions beforehand.

The best way to for anything is to do your research ahead of time. If you’re preparing for a big interview, prepping beforehand with these 3 common interview questions will help you get one step closer to that dream job!
