Senior Finance Associate, Budgeting & Reporting – Accounting and Finance job – Market related salary – Cape Town, South Africa

A NGO based in Cape Town have a great job opportunity for a Senior Finance Associate to join their team. The Senior Finance Associate will be a key business partner to the Global Program Team, leading on various financial and operational tasks including, but not limited to, budgeting, financial analysis, financial reporting, program plan analysis, general ledger review, and grant compliance

Your key job responsibilities as the Senior Finance Associate in Cape Town will include:

  • Generate budgets for grant proposals (or re-budgeting of existing grants)
  • Generate financial reports and invoices for donors, working directly with the relevant Director, Manager, or EVP responsible for the grant, and work directly with the Director of Budgeting and Reporting and the Global Team Program Director to validate the reports
  • Review the finance-related sections of donor contracts, amendments, and no-cost extensions with regards to anticipated cash flows, financial reporting requirements, approved budget, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with donor financial requirements
  • Review G/L entries related to the Global Program team and work collaboratively with program managers and directors on G/L adjustments
  • Prepare monthly analyses of operational expenses against the budget; work with program managers and directors to provide variance explanations and to make ongoing adjustments to programmatic plans
  • Lead the annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting processes for the Global Program team and for other supported focal country offices to ensure consistency and accurate reflection of programmatic goals given the financial resources available
  • Work with the Global Program team and country offices to allocate and track funding
  • Support the business relationship with subcontractors and implementing partners
  • Work with Global Program managers and directors and Accounts Payable to ensure timely payment of invoices

Requirements for this Senior Finance Associate job in Cape Town:

  • Advanced degree; Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Public Administration (MPA) preferred
  • 4-6 years of prior experience in a related field (experience with an international non-profit/NGO is preferred)
  • Strong familiarity with financial systems, budgeting, accounting best-practices, expense recording and reporting
  • Strong quantitative skills and solid experience in financial modeling using advanced Excel features
